1983年，北塞浦路斯土耳其共和国单方面宣布（英语：Declaration of Independence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus）脱离塞浦路斯共和国独立。除了土耳其外，国际社会皆不承认这个事实上独立的国家。
